LEITE CRÈME

Leite Creme is a classic Portuguese dessert. It’s simply made of an egg custard infused with lemon, cinnamon, and vanilla, that’s sprinkled with granulated sugar and burned until golden. It’s similar to the world-famous Crème Brulée, but uniquely Portuguese in a way.

INGREDIENTS 

1 liter(s) of milk 

6 unit(s) of gems 

1 cup(s) of sugar 

3 tablespoon(s) cornstarch 

1 lemon peel(s) 

2 units of cinnamon sticks 

1⁄2 Vanilla Pod

DIRECTION

1. Boil the milk with the lemon peel and cinnamon stick. 

2. In a pan, mix the sugar and wheat flour and add the boiled milk little by little, until the entire mixture is coated, which, stirring constantly, should return to the heat to boil until it thickens. 

3. Add the beaten egg yolks little by little to the cream, return to the heat for just 2 minutes to cook the yolks, stirring constantly. 

4. Place the creamed milk on a plate and, once it has cooled, spread a little sugar on top and burn it with the creamed milk toaster.
