Honey is very old food. The first record of consumption, was in 500a.c, in ancient Egypt. Southern Egypt was known as the "Land of the Bees".

Check out some curiosities:

- To produce 1kg of honey, bees need to visit 5 million flowers, where each bee produces about 5 grams of honey per year.

- A single bee carries around 40 daily flights in search of nectar.

- Honey takes time to decompose due to its high sugar content and low amount of water. "Honey was found in an Egyptian tomb, about 3,000 in the Isade. The honey found there was no damage and it was possible to eat it.

- Bees control the thickness and clarity of their honey, fanning their wings at ventilation points inside the hive at varying rates to control water evaporation.

- Only 7 of the 20,000 known species of bees produce honey.
